Hi. I am a 42 year old man who for the better part of my life have struggled with severe depression, anxiety, paranoia and other mental and emotional pain. This has for the most part crippled my life, keeping me socially isolated most of the time, with few or no friends, out of work more than working, and petrified with fears I do not understand. I do believe in the God you believe in, along with the gospel of Jesus Christ. For some reason though, this has not impacted my life and given me the freedom and peace with Him I so often hear about. These last few weeks have been extremely difficult to get myself through each day, my will to live seems to be at a low point, with very little energy. I suspect, after reading some Christian literature on depression and suicide that I may have a lot of anger and bitterness inside me which I have not known how to deal with. I’ve contacted some proffessionals about this, and am taking a medication, however I strongly feel that there is more that can be done. Prayer healing was recently mentioned to me, and while looking for information about it on the web last night I came across your site. I am in desperate need of prayer from any Beleiver who is willing to intercede for me, as I have much difficulty and at times am too constrained to pray for myself. Having said all this I would greatly appreciate your prayers as well as those of other Beleivers who would be compassionate toward this problem.I thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully God will give you the wisdom and compassion to pray accordingly.
In His name Jesus,
William

William, dont worry too much. All of us, in one way or another, experienced unbearable emotional pains and burdens. Hang on. In time, the world thru God’s mercy will make way for you.
Dear Willaim, All the answer are in the good book and I am sure that yours are there to. It’s jsut that we do not always seem them the way we want. I believe your prayers are now being answered as you have people praying for you now via this website. I am going to bed tonight and pray very deeply for you while I face my own crisis. Please take care knowing that prayers are being said for you each and everyday that you accept Christ as your savior. Be of good cheer help is on the way.
WIlliam I was born into a family full of depressed people and was also headed in that direction and didn’t know why. I was going to the local mental health center regularly by the age 7, because I would not talk. I was not talking becuase from as long as I could remember I had been molested by my brothers and other males around. And I was an absolute mess until I found my church and through Pleasant View Ministries I realized that the Power of God is real. That’s if you surrender whole heartedly and don’t use your problems as a crutch! And realize that depression can be related to a generational curse. I had to decide the curse stops here! Once you make this decree you have to put action behind. I used to be afraid to enter crowded rooms, speak in public or do anything associated with interacting with people. After I allowed myself to be delivered, because God will not go against your will, I was set free. I went back to school and got my GED and then on to become a registered nurse. God has done some awesome things in my life, this is just a few. Please surrender totally to God, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING other than his SPIRIT can dwell in you once you do. Fear, depression and any other unclean and defile spirits has to leave. Be Blessed and trust God.

William, please don’t give up, the Lord answers our prayers, but on his own time not ours. He gave us a life and only he can take it away. Be patient and keep on praying, we’re all here for you. I will say a prayer for you and please remember to pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you. Here’s a small prayer you can repeat every day as often as you need to.
God saves me.. Jesus enlightens me… The Holy Spirit is my life… I am not afraid
William, I understand your feelings. I am 53 and I have battled deep depression since I was 13. It has hindered my life, my joy, my salvation, my marriage, my children’s lives, my grandchildren’s lives. God bless you William, I am praying for you. Dear God help William to become the free spirit you intended him to be. Help him stand up and be proud of who he is. Dear God, let him find total peace and prosperity. And most of all, dear God, let William know how important his life is and how important he is to everyone in his life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
P.S. William I need you to pray for me. Thanks
May God bless you and surround you with his peace and love. May his angels uplift you when you are feeling low. May God give you strength, courage and faith to see you through the darkness and into the light of HIS love.
Hello William
I will be praying for you, but i also just wanted to send a personal word of encouragement. I am not sure what causes depression, chemical imbalance, heredity, life changes, but I do know that when it comes on its like a dark cloud that distorts your vision. I too suffered from depression, and it almost took my friends, my goals, and my life. But with the help of prayers from my family and church I was freed. God’s plan is for you to live your life abundantely. I know that at some points you feel the world very dark, and you will probably hear the voice inside your head, telling you that are worthless or that the world you live in isn’t worth the trouble. Just remember that you are not sick of life, but life as you are living it now. And I can assure you that this can change. . I know very much that God loves loves you…and though i don’t know you…I will be praying for you and through God loving you myself.
Wishing you all happiness and Peace that God has for you,
Sonya
Thank you, Peter

I understand the problem. My wife was the same way. but through prayer we made it. she passed to be with the Lord last year. I have also been also in a wheelchair for almost 6 years. so I know prayer works they said I never would walk again and my wife put me in a hursing home and divorced me but I made it out and she came back after everyone said she would not come bak and that I would never get out of bed again. Well through prayer I am on a walker and I had a healing Pastor come to my home and pray with me and I got out of my chair that I had been in for 5 years then and walked with out help peaise God. So I know about depression and how it can pull you down. So look up to God and don`t give up. So when you feel down look up and see the Lord is holding you. You are in my prayers my friend.
May God Bless you Wiliam; I undertsand and share your pain; may it pass for both of us- know that you are not alone and that we must surrender our fears to Him.
You are in my prayers tonight.
Thank you, Oliv
Dear William,
I really hope things will get better for you. And I will pray for you tonight.
Let me just say this as well: Don’t judge yourself too harsh – don’t believe that this is because of “bitterness” and stuff, or that it is caused by a lack of God’s work in you or something. God loves you just as you are. At this very moment. With all your mixed feelings.
(most of us have good reasons for being depressed – childhood experiences, social fears, financial concerns… we live in an imperfect world, and it’s not always easy! Since you say that this has been with you for a long time, I suspect that it has to do with things you have experienced growing up, perhaps in combination with some hereditary traits)
Coming out of things like this takes time. Trust me, I know. But it IS always possible to improve one’s situation. Sometimes a lot can change, sometimes things can become at least somewhat better ..
Prayer works. God’s love can change us.
But then, as is mentioned above, other things might also help. Exercise and a steady schedule are good starting points. Find SOME things that you like to do, and try to them at the same time every day, for example.
And it’s important to get professional help. Medicaments alone will never be enough. Personally, I believe in what is called “cognitive therapy”. The focus is not so much on finding the REASON for why we are depressed, but on how to get out of it. Which is what you want, right?
I’ll also advise you to find a Christian congregation or community where you can really feel at home. Somewhere where you feel accepted exactly as you are.
Finally: The first step on the way to change is to have a WISH to change. When you have this wish – as you obviously do – it’s always possible to get somewhere. So I’m convinced that your life will get better. And as I said – tonight I’ll include you in my prayer.
Take care and good luck William – may God keep you.

You shall increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

(Psalm 23:4)
“Great are Your mercies, O LORD; revive me according to Your ordinances.”
(Psalms 119:156)
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. (Psalm 13)

(Lamentations 3:22-23)
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. (Ezekiel 36:27)
P.S. William, please place God at the center of your life by way of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ which is where true happiness resides. God knows your struggle and will not forsake you. Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate as we voyage through our life. It’s the set of the soul that decides the goal and not the storm or the strife. When you focus and meditate on God’s promises in His Word ( the Holy Bible) to you as a child of God and live according to His commandments, you will grow wise, you will remain hopeful, and you will be a blessing to your family and to the world. As you may know life is best lived on purpose.
And purpose, like everything else in the universe, begins with God. When you welcome God into your heart and establish a genuine relationship with Him, He will begin, in time, to make His purposes known. Sometimes, God’s intentions will be clear to you; other times, God’s plans will seem uncertain at best. But even on those difficult days when you are unsure which way to turn, you must never lose sight of these overriding facts: God created you for a reason; He has important work for you to do; and He’s waiting patiently for you to do it. And the next step is up to you. If the Lord calls us, He will equip us for the task He wants us to fulfill. There is a path before you that you alone can walk. There is a purpose that you alone can fulfill.
Okay at this point you must be wondering so, how do I begin? Statistics have demonstrated that everyone at some time in their lives will be affected by depression — either their own depression or the depression of a loved one.We have all been depressed at some point in our lives, but the extent and duration of the depression can vary.
The deeper and longer the depression, the greater the feelings of hopelessness and the harder it is to see the light. The glass is always half empty, and the worst case scenario is nearly always expected. Shame, guilt, fear, self-reproach and isolation regularly accompany the depressed. Daily routines of exercising and forcing oneself to get out of bed, out of the house, and outside is essential in battling depression.
At times, medication may be necessary as a help, but not as a cure. The danger in the use of medication is that medication can become the savior. This leaves deeper, spiritual, and perhaps psychological issues unaddressed, resulting in a lack of growth in faith toward The Savior. Medication, in combination with biblical counseling, will yield a greater impact on a person’s life for some, while many others will not require medication.
A trusted physician should be consulted regarding the use of antidepressants. “Physical training has some value, but godliness has value for all things” (I Tim 4:7b-8). The focus of the battle with depression will mostly lie in the mind and in the heart. First, we should look at our thoughts and write them down. These thoughts pave the way to discerning the issues of the heart that significantly influence depression. Scripture repeatedly calls attention to our hearts as the focal point to what we say and what we do (Luke 6:43-45; 12:34, Mark 7:14-23). The most significant heart issues in depression are unresolved anger toward another or God, fear of death, acceptance or rejection from others or God, shame perceived or real, and guilt not reaching standards.
Once we have determined what drives the depression, which may require biblical counsel. we are in a position to apply the right scriptural applications that speak to our hearts. The Truth of God’s Word must be believed in order to successfully battle depression. Statements such as “I feel alone” must be replaced with “I’m not alone, God is with me” (Deuteronomy 31:8); “I am unlovable and worthless” with “Jesus loves me and died for me” (John 3:16); “I feel guilty” with “Jesus took my punishment, so I do not need to punish myself” or “If Jesus won’t condemn me, than why should I” (Romans 8:1) or “His grace is sufficient for me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Some people say like you that they know these things, but that it does not get from the head to the heart. It does not get to the heart because the heart is based on feeling and in depression, feelings are truth. (Jeremiah 17:9) says that “our hearts are deceitful” so we cannot base truth on our feelings, but on God, who is Truth. In battling depression, we must be suspect of our hearts and not of God’s Word. William, there is hope for you. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead physically — (I Corinthians 6:14) can raise you from a feeling like death emotionally as you daily submit your life and heart to Christ alone as the source of Truth. Please keep us posted on your progress. May God Bless You and Your Family Richly.
In His Service,
