Subject: Asking For help
I am Lilly S. Jackson, an evacuee of the Katrina Hurricane disaster from 8416 Cedar Lane Apt B, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70127 which is the worst disaster in the history of the United States. Because of Hurricane Katrina, We was living in Napoleonville, Louisiana, because we had nowhere to live. Now I’ am living at 28 Iris Lane Waggaman Louisiana, 70094 in one bedroom apartment. From a three bedroom. The apartment complex where I lived with my family was located in one of the areas that was hit the worst, an area where a levee broke, we lived near the lake. Everything was totally under water for two weeks. Our lost was so great, including our home furniture, all of our personal clothing, family picture, shoes, business furniture, desks, table, file cabinet’s, equipment and tools used for business, floor and tile tools along with five computers, printers, fax machine’s and office supplies: everything is gone. I need help with the replacement of these items. I also want my owns house, which seeming impossible now. Starting over is so hard. It’s was so hard getting where we was. Many of the evacuees have been given help by FEMA and the RED CROSS: So I have I. However, when I compare the compensation by RED CROSS and FEMA with my loss, I cannot see how all of my personal and business items will be replaced. To pour salt in an already bleeding wound, my insurance company tells me they will not cover my contents in the my apartment. With renter insurance. How can they do that after I have paid my money as premiums for coverage? I do not want to seem ungrateful or unappreciative for the assistance from the social agents. I realize that there are thousands of us that need help. I am writing this letter to say that I need more. Where do I start over from? I had developed an Answering Service Business, began conducting marketing and advertising. I had tools for home repair services; Not only did operate the business, I’ am a Reserve Captain with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Department. I had just received a letter from the Post Office stating that my scores where up and an application to receive the job, the letter also started that I dad until September 02, 2005 to return the application; But as you know we had a catastrophe on August 29, 2005, I do not know the out come of that. Now I had the rug pulled from under me. How this dilemma that, I have be fixed.
Sincerely, Lilly S. Jackson
