Time, One of God’s Most Treasured Gifts to Us

If you think about it, time is one of those things we use up without a second thought about it. When I was a teenager and young adult. Ok, I like to think I’m still a young adult.  :)  I would spend so much time on video games. I never thought about the idea that I never could get that time back and I was turning into a mindless zombie just staring at the screen flinching and getting stressed out trying to get to the next level.  :)  Maybe, you can relate, and maybe you never liked video games. Just put whatever else you spend a lot of time on in the spot of the video games. Now some things are more disguised as a need, such as work. Maybe, it’s a harmless hobby, or maybe it’s a destructive addiction. Whatever it is that has and is using up much of your time, is forever gone. I forget where I heard an awesome analogy that made me see time in a whole different light, but there was a man that had estimated how long he might live. He then took a marble for every week that he would live and put them in a big jar. From this jar he would take a marble every week out of the big jar and put it away somewhere else to remind him that his resource of time was limited and that he needed time to build quality relationships. In the end he realized more and more every week where he took that marble away from the jar that his relationships were what mattered most and he made a good effort to love people and bring them closer to God. May that be a thought and prayer for you today.

Prayer:

Jesus, teach me your ways. Help me to use my time wisely rather than spend it frivolously on things that do not build good strong relationships. For that is what you did with your time. You were praying and building relationships to help people have a relationship with yourself as God. I give you my life for your glory today, Jesus, Amen.
